On September 3rd 2017 - 5 years ago Steel Dynamics opened its doors for business,
with a small tight nit group of individuals we set out to change the face of
the Steel Industry.
Our strap line was to be “Dynamically Different” and our mission was “To Re-define service through superior technology, cost and culture”. A lot has happened in those 5 years, we have grown from employing less than 5 people to now employing over 60 and being the largest independent stockholder and processor in the UK!
We started out with limited stock and one laser machine. We now have 4 lasers including a state of the art Fiber Laser, 4 waterjets, 2 plasma’s, a machine shop incorporating some of the largest heavy machining capacity the UK has to offer and over 1000 tonnes of stock across 8 grades of materials not to mention a fleet of trucks delivering nationwide to our 500+ customers. We are also moving to new premises on the prestigious Walker Industrial Park site, Blackburn. We expect to be fully operational by November 17 with a complete offering of the most modern sheet and plate processing equipment along with new added value processes never before seen in any metal processing plant in the world!
Our growth can be attributed to our meticulous commitment to our core values and mission, our commitment to our employees and their families and our service commitment to you, our customers.
This milestone provides us an opportunity to both reflect on our past and to look forward to our future. As we celebrate, we say “Thank You” to all of our customers and co-workers.
We have established a track record of doing the impossible. At the heart of these accomplishments is a great deal of hard work, dedication, and a willingness to take risks to benefit our customers. However, now is not the time to rest. Our journey is really only just beginning!
Although we may be tempted to indulge in a self-congratulatory moment on our 5th anniversary, we remain mindful that the world is an ever-changing place, and if anything, we must accelerate, not relax. We must think ahead to what the next 5 years will hold.
Our culture of passion for delivering customer solutions is unique. Despite the many changes we will undoubtedly make, it is this passion, and our relationships with you, our customers, which will remain the foundation for the next 5 years.
