Steel Dynamics UK provides an in-house CAD and plate nesting service that turns customer drawings into optimised production files for our stainless steel processing machines.
Advanced nesting software maximises the number of parts extracted from each plate, reducing waste and material cost - often significantly - while cutting programme runtime and shortening lead times from drawing to dispatch.
We accept DXF, DWG, STEP and PDF drawings. Our CAD team reviews each file for cuttability, nesting efficiency and downstream fit - flagging any drawing issues before material is committed to a cut. For repeat customers, we hold master programmes and nest patterns so re-orders skip the setup step entirely.

Nesting is where material yield is won or lost. On premium grades - super duplex, nickel alloys, 6 Moly - a 5% yield improvement on the plate translates directly to a 5% material cost saving on your invoice.
Our nesting service is included as standard on every cutting job; you do not pay extra for it. Our ability to reduce material waste, improve processing times and fully recycle any by-products means we offer a complete service that benefits both our customers and the environment.
